Michael Kamen's work on License to Kill, where he mixes his typical but impressive strings work like on the Lethal Weapon films with variations on the Bond theme (by both him and Eric Clapton) is brilliant.

Fortunately today, I don't have any meetings so I'll get a chance to hear more of David Arnold's work (after the less than impressive Goldeneye score)...

update: I like.  A LOT.  I'm not a huge fan of drum machine stuff, but Arnold (and Oakenfeld in Die Another Day) really make it work over the layers and variations Arnold has done with the Barry material.

I got into Arnold back in the day with the Stargate score, which still ranks pretty high on my list. I also really like the Independence Day score.

Check out "Tomorrow Never Dies". That's his most Barry-esque score. There are two versions of the CD. One of them has more score and less of the usual Bond song tracks. It's probably my favorite of all of David Arnold's Bond scores...although "Casino Royale" is impressive in it's own way, as well.

as i was writing that, i was listening to a marathon of bond film score excerpts on xm radio, so yeah i got to hear some of TND and did think it was quite good. Cinemagic does those marathons about once every 3 months.

I brought it up 'cause the last time the marathon was on, i was busy in meetings and had to miss the David Arnold films. this time, i was coding away and enjoying it all. :)
