... how the right-wing and administration will quote-mine scientists, church leaders, and founding fathers in order to twist words into meaning the exact opposite of what the author intended, particularly to end an air of authority to the bullshit they're trying to peddle off.
But now, the administration has actually gone to the point of quote-mining the President's own speeches to turn anti-science rhetoric into "the president has always supported the scientific consensus." The quote mine specifically removes references to CO2 in the original, thus keeping the administration in line with what the big-oil policy wanks want. It then cuts short of replaying the rest of the speech which is all of the "but there are doubts" crapola we're used to hearing from them.
