*sigh* - it's bad enough...

... how the right-wing and administration will quote-mine scientists, church leaders, and founding fathers in order to twist words into meaning the exact opposite of what the author intended, particularly to end an air of authority to the bullshit they're trying to peddle off.

But now, the administration has actually gone to the point of quote-mining the President's own speeches to turn anti-science rhetoric into "the president has always supported the scientific consensus."  The quote mine specifically removes references to CO2 in the original, thus keeping the administration in line with what the big-oil policy wanks want.  It then cuts short of replaying the rest of the speech which is all of the "but there are doubts" crapola we're used to hearing from them.

I'm troubled by this too. We are comming out of a VERY bad time, and history will remeber it as such. The 2006 election, proved that the right-wing administration will NO longer be believed. The 2008 election will clean up the remaining artifacts. It's tough to believe what happened, did happen. But it did. There exists BOTH a "mass hysteria" & a "mass stupidity".

The right-wing administration exploited both. Got to give them credit for seeing an opportunity & taking it. Now they need to be ended, their loop holes closed!
