If Valery Jarrett is supposedly some real influential super-power within the White House, why the hell is it that nobody (even among Democrats) have even really heard of her until this likely fake 'hell to pay' quote suddenly starting making the right-wing blogosphere?

Journalism largely consists of saying 'Lord Jones is Dead' to people who never knew that Lord Jones was alive.—G. K. Chesterton

If you never paid attention to that sort of thing, you never heard of Valerie Jarrett. If you paid attention, you'd have known that Jarrett has been a confidant of President Obama going all the way back to his Chicago years. And remember: ginning up pearl-clutching controversies is what the right-wing puke funnel DOES.

I'm still waiting for the "whitey" tape.

heh. good quote, that.

seriously, I knew and know that Presidents have their old-school confidants (hell, the #1 sinister-conspiracy theory of the Clintons was that they were intentionally killing them off to protect themselves from Whitewater). I just hadn't heard of this particular one. Next thing I know someone on FB (I *really* had to strain to hold back posting on it...) is echoing this story with a pic about her being Iranian and child of a communist (like anybody who actually lived through the Shaw but didn't work for him actually *liked* America's approach to things? right...) and some sort of secret power and yada yada.

That the President has a few confidants, fine. That they are so far to the left that they can actually change him from doing things the way he (a Rockefeller Republican to the heart, with a touch of Teddy but not enough) has been doing things so far, or that he can actually get an entrenched (and will be increasingly vindictive) Congress to act on it, is a bit much to believe in any case.

Well, you know he's so simple that everything he does he has to read off a prompter. After affirmative action got him to be the president of the Harvard Law Review and some Chicago commie wrote his memoirs for him to disguise the fact that he was born in Indonesia as a Manchurian Candidate with the goal of subverting democracy. So why wouldn't there be some Iranian commie woman there to make sure he sticks to the script?

crap, you forgot to mention he's an atheist who's goal for the subversion of democracy involves instilling sharia law on us all.

Yeah, but guys, I've got neighbors who actually believe all that. Plus, of course, that he broke all the promises he made during 2008.
I think I will go lie down and put a damp washcloth over my eyes.

I have a mother-in-law who believes all of that. I've been quietly avoiding her until after the election, and possibly for a while after that.

Wheee.
