Burning stupid from Michelle Bachmann : Respectful Insolence:
No one brings home the stupid the way Michelle Bachmann does:

I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out then under another Democrat president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence.

In just the same way that Kim Evans apparently doesn't know that there was no such thing as a flu vaccine during the 1918 pandemic, Michelle Bachman apparently doesn't know that the swine flu scare of 1976 occurred when Gerald Ford was President. In case Bachmann doesn't remember, Gerald Ford was a Republican. True, he was far too moderate politically ever to fit into today's Republican Party, but he was a Republican. Heck, he was even a mainstream Republican.
btw, my title courtesy of the supreme court, whom you can thank very much yesterday for deciding profanity as "words with power" are more important than bill of rights as "words of power".

i can't believe that any person could possibly take her seriously. i mean really. even her own party calls bullshit on her!

but this tidbit (granted, from Wikipedia, but it is cited twice) cracked me up:

"[edit] Global Warming Denial
Bachmann has taken to the floor to claim that since carbon dioxide is "a natural byproduct of nature", it is actually a harmless gas[30]. She theorized that because life requires CO2 and it is part of the life cycle on Earth it cannot be harmful. Bachmann is against the cap and trade carbon tax because "Carbon dioxide is not a harmful gas, it is a harmless gas. Carbon dioxide is natural; it is not harmful...We're being told we have to reduce this natural substance to create an arbitrary reduction in something that is natually occuring in the earth." Bachmann also incorrectly stated that carbon dioxide makes up 3% of the atmosphere, though it is actually only .04%.[31][32] Rep. Earl Blumenauer later accused Bachmann of "making things up on the floor of the House."[33]"

if it's so harmless, she should try breathing a roomful of atmosphere made up of 3% carbon dioxide for awhile and report back how she feels. or 100%! if it's just harmless gas and all. what a maroon!

Yes, and we've only ever had civil war under a Republican president. Plus, the only time an invading force ever burned down our Capitol was under a Republican president. (Granted, neither Madison nor Lincoln would fit too well in the current party, but still.) Interesting.

When the Republicans were in the majority, they used the very effective tactic of ganging up on their opponents and using every tactic available to discredit them or tear them down faster than they could build any credibility.

A few things happened since that point. First, they encountered someone who built credibility faster than they could tear it down.

Second, and more important, they fail to recognize that you can't gang up one the anyone when you are in the marginalized minority.

Third, this tactic only works if you are very, very good at if. Otherwise, you just make yourself look very, very stupid.

I need to find out the exact location of Minnesota's 6th district ! I need to meet these people residing there. I have a bridge for sale. Prime farmland in Nevada to sell. Luxurious condos in New Orlean's 9th ward that are available. Not to mention Pieces of the true cross, an autographed picture of God and President Grant's tomb. (copped from another, but I like his ideas.)
