Everyone here knows my position on it, but I could hardly describe that position as "is a fan of Gay Marriage" the way Facebook does.

Yeah, the verbiage doesn't QUITE jibe. What concerns me more than the choice of words, however, are a few militant individuals who make that fandom a condition of continued "friendship" on FB. One even goes as far as to say: "If you don't declare yourself a 'fan' of gay marriage and say so in your profile, I am unfriending you." Lord knows I understand the importance of the issue to some folks, but to make it THAT critical to a mere Facebook acquaintanceship kinda cheapens the whole darned thing, in my view. Guess I'm losing some friends shortly... *wry grin*

I don't really think 'fan' is a correct term either. Supporter would be more accurate.

But I'd also like the option to dispise or hate something. Like I can't stand American Idol, and i'd love to declare myself "Not a fan" or something.

I, too, am looking for "does NOT like", along with "Like" under each wall-posting. It may be a little negative for the happy-feelgood Facebook, but with as many cynics I have as friends, I'd occassionally like to poke them with a pointy stick. ;)

wow! in my book, friends should allow friends to have other opinions much less allow them to have other facebook affiliations. that's harsh.
