I understand your irritation & frustration at some of the stupid things people do in the name of religion. However, there are just as many stupid and irritating things being done by people on the flip side of it too. And if I can ask a favor... as your friend... please remember that not all of us who believe in God are complete loonies or religious nutjobs who judge everyone in harsh black & white. I don't think I'm a crazy. Instead I try to live by the words "judge not, lest ye be judged". Or another that says "he who is without sin may cast the first stone". I have no stones in my hand. I am just as guilty as anyone else. I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences. If I'm speaking out of line here, well then I apologize, but not all of us go to the extreme ends. Just my two cents...
long story short, i do still believe (though I refuse to use the term "Christian" anymore out of sheer disgust), and no you're not out of line.
keep an eye on my tags. if i'm ranting about the misuse of religion, I'll tag it "religion". when I post about acts of Grace (and I do, though sadly not often enough), or when i can reach/teach an alternative interpretation, I'll tag it "faith". that doesn't mean there won't be some overlap (or some anger) in those posts, but with them i tend to point to an ideal rather than just rant in sadness or anger.
