Sounds like a tutoring session I did. If Bubba eats 5lbs of grain/meal, Butterball eats 1lb total (mix half and half of regular and senior) and Cash eats 3lb regular and .5lb senior; how many bags of each feed (50lb) do you need for the Devon show? The stalls are 12 feet front to back. If Bubba needs 250 square feet for his stall, how wide does it need to be? If the radio in Canada says it will be 5*C what clothing will you need?
the sad part is i sat here figuring out in my head the cost of the sweaters and shirts, comparing them to the equations even "knowing" they meant x and y, to understand WHY they meant x and y.
because i still don't believe sweaters and shirts are = to x and y in the real world. ;)
