My fav has been An American Christmas Carol, a tv-movie from 1978 staring Henry Winkler. Other favs include Christmas Story and Hogfather.

and no, I'm not that big a fan of Wonderful Life, but some of that is due to saturation when every cable tv station licensed it and played it at some point (multiples times, and sometimes overlapping) over thanksgiving of '87, the year that the colorized version came out.

Heh! I LOATHED It's A Wonderful Life ever since I saw it. I thought it was the sappiest, most saccharine, melodramatic rot I'd seen in ages. I shuddered and recoiled when someone mentioned it at the office the other day and everyone laughed at me.

My favorites are "A Christmas Carol," the made-for-TV version with George C. Scott from the 80s (very faithful to the story, fantastic acting), Scrooge: The Musical with Albert Finney from the 70s, and White Christmas.

I never care for It's Wonderful Life either. My favorite Christmas movies have always been Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (Yes, the stop-motion one.), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (The original animated one. I insist.), and Nightmare Before Christmas.
Hmm...I sense a theme here...

Hogfather was quite good, too.
