Dispatches from the Culture Wars: Bush 41 Pimps for Moon Again:
And did you see one article anywhere in the mainstream media about it? I've not seen one that even mentions that on May 2nd, the former president and father of the current president, George HW Bush, was paid by the world's most prominent fascist cult leader to give yet another speech on his behalf, with [Rev.] Moon on the same stage.

[...]

The media silence on this is absolutely staggering to me. While the cable news shows and blogs obsess over Rev. Wright, not a single major media outlet covers this story about an American president in a decades-long relationship with a man who has spoken openly of taking over the United States and establishing a one-world theocracy under his rule. Absolutely mind-boggling.

i think the media wants to forget the Moonies exist, they have bigger fish to fry. and the Washington Times could easily publish all sorts of slander, but it seems like the only crime they commit is heavily conservative reporting. in a town like ours, it balances out the media . . . or at least tries.

honestly, though, after meeting with the Director of Photography for a staff position i was nowhere near qualified for, i've got a 'thing' for someday working for them.

well, photographers do not necessarily have their reputation tarnished merely by the media it's published in (for non-porn imagery, that is). if a legit and good photo is given a crappy caption, it still remains a good photo and the editor who gave it the crappy caption gets the reputation blame.

on the other hand, if either a photographer or an editor photoshops a photo to present a false image, the photographer gets the blame.

i'm not saying the W. Times has done that, but other organizations have.

it's usually more that a photographer is called a liar because the pundits have decided that a photo was too "staged" to be "real", and again, the Times hasn't seen that kind of accusation either so I can't say "hey, don't do that".

As for the moonies and media relevance, well, that's the whole point isn't it - a Democrat with nutcase religious connections is being condemned while MANY Republicans with nutcase religious connections are praised. the treatment Bush I got with the media ignoring Moon is THE SAME as the treatment McCain is getting by the media ignoring Robertson, Falwell, Hagee, and any of the other "gays are the cause of all the punishments God does to this nation" nutcases. It's utter and obvious bullshit but the media REFUSES to point it out as bullshit.
