an icon i made for an icontest
Feb. 18th, 2008 04:46 pmTheme was "Love's First Kiss" - had to be the FIRST kiss of a Disney animated couple. Naturally, everybody did the Disney Princesses (except a few Tarzan/Jane and one Pocahontas/Smith, which was odd given that in the film (and history) they don't actually stay together) and human types were the only winners.
Still, I was rather proud of the one i did, though looking at it now, I should have brightened it up more, as it's just too dark (in the original film, it was at night). But I do say it was the ONLY non-human one submitted:

Date: 2008-02-18 09:56 pm (UTC)Now what got me was actually how *few* non-Princess films even have a kiss. None of the "package" films of the 40s do (even Pecos Bill fades out into the stars when it should happen).
As for 101, I think that one also keeps the romance stuff off-screen once they get past the meeting in the park (where the two dogs entangle them in the leashes). An earlier theme for the contest was "the wedding", and again it was surprising how few films, even those with romances, actually bother with any reference to it on screen - for the contest they allowed the home video sequels to be included.

Date: 2008-02-19 02:30 am (UTC)Not the gators so much, as 1) I was from florida and knew better, and 2) they were a little too comicky - after the croc from Peter Pan, it was pretty silly what they were up to.
