...with the restoration of pTartan, the interactive (php) application for generating tartan images for backgrounds.  After having argued with WAMPServer's configuration and figuring out which dba handlers I had available (and re-adapting my coding style to the newer security restrictions like the elimination of server globals which wasn't a "problem" back in php 4.0 days), I this morning discovered that my new ISP doesn't support dba at all.  So I had to then rewrite the db code to use mysql instead.

But for now, it works.

All I need to add now some script-kiddie attack sensors and a new interactive mode for letting users design their own.  Then the last bit is to change it from frames based to AJAX.

That's enough geeking for now.  In 30 minutes, a new AT40 will start and then it'll be time to start cleaning again.

Did you ever add my dance school - www.thistledancers.com?

this is a SLOW restoration. there is nothing else there at all and hasn't been for over a year as my web-app brain cycles haven't had the time to spare with managing the MSFB site and work.

I've also been trying to resolve how much I want to restore and what I would rather just leave behind. For example, [livejournal.com profile] dragansmaragach has been better at maintaining a calendar of events (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dc-celtic-events/ though being a yahoo group, it requires a yahoo id registration which not everybody wants to do) for quite some time, so I'd rather just let him continue (and I contribute to it) rather than duplicating all of that effort.

Then finally there's the whole "it looks so 90s" aspect to it that needs to be redesigned and that takes time as well, time I've not had since my house became a disaster area in July trying to get the upper level flooring replaced before the faire season started (hint: we didn't make it).

So it's been on my todo list and when I get a dance-related page up, I'll be sure to get your page in there.

who is your ISP now? Are they good to work with and relatively easy to hand-code stuff with?

drak.net - we talked about it before but I don't have the time to look up when.

it's a pain to develop stuff remotely, in any instance. Best to have your own local environment that duplicates as closely as possible the remote (hence, WAMPServer, which allows me to swap-toggle the apache, php, AND mysql versions on the fly, with only the latter actually impacting what data I have available to me) and then upload and do a final check.
