dependencies that aren't and yet are...
Oct. 18th, 2007 11:26 am...or "Microsoft Sucks pt 354,332".
I keep forgetting to take it out of the auto-startup, so M$'s Messenger starts up every time I log in. Fine. Usually I can kill it.
Except if I've already started Outlook. THEN it complains that Outlook is dependent on it and won't die.
Only if I kill it first and then start Outlook, Outlook in no way at all complains that it can't find MSM. Doesn't care at all.
So why does it make MSM complain if it doesn't actually use it or need it?
M$ sucks.

Date: 2007-10-18 05:30 pm (UTC)I have seen MSM be very aggressive in putting itself in the startup, both the registry and the Start Menu > Startup listing. To counter this, I have blown it out the of the registry and then gone to the directory where it resides and renamed the MSMGR.exe (I think that is it) to something else.
