Danse Macabre 2006.

Shot by [livejournal.com profile] wildwose (who I hope doesn't mind I posted them) last year.

This is to give those who are thinking of bringing new ones a hint as to what we do and how to dress for it. The two dances will be Sellingers Round (done twice as is traditional, rather than last Sunday's shortened version) and Maltese Bransle. I'll give calls as I can. If you haven't danced Sellingers before, I'd rather you keep back and make a small perimeter to keep the more inebriated away from the musicians. Anybody on the walk can join in Maltese.

Musicians: dance tunes that may be played: Shaking in the Sheets, Sellingers Round, Maltese Bransle, Jenny Pluck Pears, Rufty Tufty (the one I think being played in the videos), Hit and Miss, Horses Bransle, Scottish Bransle, Black Nag, Epping Forest. Others as we might remember them (I'll try to print a mini-cheat sheet for mnemonics), mostly from typical Playford sets. Since its a parade, we won't be as concerned about repeats as we would a normal set.

Parade will start as usual, as close to 5pm as possible, at "Hengrave Hall" near the Globe. The route will go through the shops between Potomac Leather and the Massage booth (to minimize interrupting the Hypnosis show) and up into the Wine Garden area for the first dance (likely Maltese). We'll then quietly process past the Royal (and their merchandise wagons which now take up 3 times as much space as they used to) and start up again around Bullseye/Pilands. The second dance set will be in one of the gaps in the shops on the left. Then a quick cross to backstage behind the food court for a water break.

Then we'll go back through the food court side and into the White Hart and through it. There shouldn't be anybody on stage except pub sing prep at 530 when we reach it, but Jack/Tim may start things a touch early so I may rush us through. Keep the musicians "safe" through here. Once on the other side we'll continue back to Hengrave and then we're done.

[livejournal.com profile] blueeowyn: if you can join us for part of it and then disappear to reach the joust by your required time, that would be great. Whatever works best for you.

One last dance rehearsal and review of the instructions will take place at 5pm at Hengrave Hall on Saturday.

Since I assume that the boys will still want/need crowd control, I suspect I will stick to the joust area (I also realized that after that scenario (possibly before), I don't get a privy OR food break until after cannon. EEP!
