Well, preventive maintanance being what it is, as in expensive but cheaper than the repair bill, I'm out another $800 or so on the car. Its not bad, but continues to extend how long it'll take to finally pay off the credit cards once I do have a new job.

Hunt hasn't been going great, as for some reason none of the "big" companies who advertise in the 'post have bothered to call. One of the difficulties I think, besides not having a clearance yet, is that they probably think that with 10 years experience, I should have some leadership on my resume...trouble is, ISX was always a bit top-heavy to start with, so the opportunaties simply weren't there, compounded with the reduction in available work that was already leading to the layoffs...

*sigh*

At any rate, at 120000 miles, the CRV is already being cheaper in repairs than its civic predecesor was at that mileage, where I was shelling out $1000 or so every 5 months, so I'm not complaining on that at all...

120000 miles? That's it? I'm up to 240,000 on a toyota 4x4. Less that $1000 a year is still damned cheaper than $400 a month for a new one.

A thousand every five months on a Civic? That seems high. I'm at 201,000 on my '93 EX, and it's more like $1000 a year. Wow.

well, different things kept going at different times...had to replace the master cylender TWICE (and that's not counting that it took 3 different ones for the first replacement to settle in at all), had a problem where i ended up burning oil for a while (which also got in the way of the emissions inspection one year), had radiator leaks twice, then had two accidents that were really small, only me, can't notice really if you were to look at the car (basically hitting curbs; in one case I hydroplaned leading into a sharp curve at BWI's parking lot, the other i nicked the side of the curb in order to add some friction to brake in order to not nail somebody's ass...i didn't want to report the latter because i hated the idea of my insurance going UP just because i did the *right* thing and not hit the guy from behind) -- both of those caused rod damage that practically required taking the front axel off, and they were about 15 months apart...

stupid shit. but it kept adding up.
