Since we haven't had any reason to be on site yet, well, we haven't been on site yet.  So unlike others, we haven't had that head start in getting crap to its home for the next nine weeks.

SO I'm forgoing working on the house (the floor is pretty much done though trim needs to be completed down the hall way) in favor of getting the car loaded a day early so I'm not up 'til 2am the night before opening.  All the stuff that can survive a hot day (well, they'll have to, won't they?) is there including chair (that's usually loaned to Hengrave Hall), table, mugs, "portable pub", whistles and pipes, bells and hanks (sorry [livejournal.com profile] thatliardiego ), music, the tree of doom (music stand), survival essentials (bug repellent and sunscreen, aloe, privy paper, plus water bottles), our guest passes (2 for [livejournal.com profile] kass_rants , 2 for my mom), schedule, and it's a DAMN good thing I just made this list, 'cause I almost forgot the tambourines.

Plus getting out the portable coolers for packing saturday morning.  Fiddle's stay in the house 'til Saturday morning.

Tomorrow night, it should be just the garb, danes,  and "props" (belt, pouches, mugstraps, hats).

Gee, no real panic this time...of course, that's partially 'cause its one thing to have the floor a mess in the house (which it most definitely still is), it's another thing to not get anything done 'cause [livejournal.com profile] faireraven is up 'til 3am making garb... :)

37 hours left!

oh crap - Lister's post just reminded me I need to go find the rats, too...

Have a good faire season!

Oh, and if you see a young flower wreath girl, who looks a slightly like me, it's my niece. {Her name is Samantha}. She's working the faire this year. And boy, that is makeing me feel old.

And if you see any guys giving her a hard time, get them beat up for me, ok?

Acts are different. So is light flirting.

No, it's the one-time (or maybe more) drunk fairegoer who thinks its ok to manhandle (or stop just short of that) pretty young things trying to sell flower wreaths. She's excited about getting to work at the faire, and wear her pretty new garb (sewed by herself and her grandma -- my mom). She'd probably die if she even knew I was thinking about getting people I know to try to keep an eye on her.

I don't know if I know what you look like (I may have met you before and am just not associating LJ handle with real faces), but we'll keep an eye out (we usually do anyways). Is she going to be at Rosie's Posies itself, or will she be a wandering seller?

We met about the time that you got engaged to Joe -- but since then I have been hip deep with kids and moved farther south so we haven't made the faire much at all. There are pictures of me on my website, but I never consider them flattering. :) Joe and I went to school together -- along with eac, ladyaelfwynn, sequentialscott, and others not on LJ.

Samantha was not sure if she would be in the shop or wandering -- I think some might depend upon how good and dependable she shows herself to be. She's 17, and has a level head. My sister is fine with her going and working -- I am the one having panic attacks. It's funny, because all the rest of the nieces and nephews going off to college haven't made me feel old. It must be because she is working at a place that I loved to go as a teen/young twenty something. Makes me feel old. And is bringing out "Mother Hen" instincts too. Which would embarass her greatly if she even knew that I could have "inside contacts" to keep an eye out fer her.

She made a lovely set of garb -- reversible bodice, and 4 coordinating skirts so she has lots of different combinations. All in burgundy/green/tan family of colors and patterns. Much better garb then I started off with!

No garb-making until 3am for me this year... Although you may see it in the next few weeks. I want to make good germans for oktoberfest this year! :)

You find the fabric you want it in, we'll talk. :)

Don't expect me to do *all* the work!
