Every time somebody says to me, "hey, can you bring some cd's along to a party" I keep thinking "geeze, not again...dammit, I don't have any party music...".

So I dig through the collection. The key stuff to look for is early-to-mid 80s, mostly "new wave".

Lemme see here.

Duran Duran, Big Country, Dexy, Roxy Music, King Crimson '81, Tears for Fears, A-Ha, U2, Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, Howard Jones, Thomas Dolby, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, The Police, Chris De Burgh, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Psychedelic Furs, Planet P, The Cars, Nik Kershaw, Dream Acadamy, Madness, The Motels, Naked Eyes, Men at Work, Flock of Seagulls, 'Til Tuesday, Strange Advance, 10000 Maniacs, and The Cure.

Then there's my "totally 80s" cd set which includes Culture Club, Wang Chung, The Escape Club, Kajagoogoo, John Waite, The Romantics, Nena, and Mr. Mister.

Then there's the arena-rock and pop-80s mix in all that, including Journey, REO, GTR, [Jefferson] Starship, Queensryche, Foreigner, Asia, Rush, Hall & Oats, Paul Simon, Yes, Billy Joel, The Who, String, Quarterflash, and Queen...oh, and on totally 80s: Buster Poindexter, The Bangles, the late Robert Palmer, Katrina and the Waves, Rick Springfield, Glenn Frey, J. Geils Band, Stray Cats, Eddy Grant, Laura Branigan, Tommy Tutone, Corey Hart, and Mike & the Mechanics...

...crap, I didn't even put a Genesis/Phil Collins hit in there...

I really need to make some pop-only cdroms for this sort of thing. Right now, if I bring all that, I'm looking at 4 boxes worth...

oh, and just found 2 80s CD's in cyd's collection, hits from 84 and 86, including Kenny Loggins, Eddie Money, Huey Lewis, Bananarama, Survivor, The Bangles, Wham!, and Tina Turner...

The World Is My Oyster. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA...

The scary part is that that bunch you had stolen a couple years back was several times larger than my whole collection ever has been.

I'm still in awe of your collection and vast (*good*) taste in music.

And you really should consider taking that DJ thing seriously... not a bad from home part-time gig, if you can figure it out. Not every even requires an extreme DJ set up, after all.
