Finally saw Pirates III last night
Jun. 11th, 2007 11:09 amSterling's Regal now has a digital projector! This means that there's no more purple blip in the corner to mark the change of reel, no more scratches or dust on the screen, no clicks and pops on the soundtrack. Pure movie, nothing more. Exactly as good yesterday as it was when they first projected it. 'bout the only hassle with the place is that they play the previews and the warm-up show (tnt/tbs previews) too damn loud, louder than the movie.
I loved it. It's a hard call in the bigger picture, though. Certainly it's better than II, but then again, it's hard not to be better than the middle (though both Matrix and Star Wars original trilogy managed IIIs that weren't as good as IIs). There's a LOT of humor in the midst of the drama, more so than either prequel.
faireraven thought it was more distracting, but I didn't mind.
Since there aren't any scenes that actually could be drawn from the ride (they'd exhausted the last ones in II), there's *one* moment where the ride is represented and I was almost in tears for it. Like with other movie moments "nobody gets" except me, I wonder how many in the theater actually realized what was before them...
