Its possible to now stake your claim, if you bought a cd between 1995 and 2001, as a result of the RIAA's settlement for price-fixing. Cartel bad. Cartel got caught. People get money.

of course, the last part is: Cartel just take it out of performer royalties and blame consumer for being artist-unfriendly. but that's not official RIAA public policy.

part two, though -- if enough people file claims so that the total amount of the reward (the settlement, minus lawyers and handling fees, divided by number of claims) amounts to under $5, NOBODY gets the money and it all goes to charitable donations instead. so the situation results in a prisoners' dilemna situation, screwing everybody (except the lawyers) -- people want their take, but too many people and nobody gets anything.

BAD Either way.....

Everyone wanting their "share" is just as heinous as Cartel's price-fixing. For these types of settlements the money should be pumped into the dwindling funds for art and music prgrams (before there are no more) at children's schools. BUT we know THAT isn't the way its gonna work. Its goona line another bunch of POS's pockets. Vicious circle I tell ya! ;o)

How've the hell have ya been stranger? Survive the holidays?
