Fairfax, Loudoun, Montgomery, and others around DC have all already declared themselves closed for tomorrow.

Given that several times a day, a bus does have to get into my neighborhood, pick up (or drop off) some 10-15 kids at a time, and we have unplowed ice roads and no sidewalk, and we're not alone in being in such crappy shape, I'm not surprised.

I'm leaving here soon so I can be at home and ready if [livejournal.com profile] faireraven 's car decides to be temperamental again.

Yeah, yeah... rub it in. Howard County didn't make their decision until after 5am this morning... very, very close to their 5:30 deadline time.

I'm betting they wait until the last second again tonight... whether we're open, closed, or late starting. I just want to get a chance to see my 4th graders! I've already booked them for double classes the next two weeks to try to get them caught up... miss them for the first of those and this project is going to be going on *forever*!

(OTOH, chances of getting much done on the only possiblility of a full day in a week's worth of days is nearly non-existant as well, but...)

This is some ugly ice. I had to break up my steps with a pickaxe so people could get in for games night. We had just been using the garage door, but I don't like leaving it open for a few hours while people wander in, and someone would have taken the sheet of ice stairs even with it open.
