They didn't send anybody in to take care of the then ice-snow combo yesterday through our neighborhood and especially the culdesacs.

So today, it's all ice.  4 inches thick anywhere a car hasn't crushed it.  I know, I was standing on it and not sinking.

And being 4 inch thick ice, they aren't going to bring a truck now, 'cause the ice will win.

And being 27 degrees today, all the sun in the world ain't going to melt it except the top, which is just going to get worse as that refreezes.

And being that it's going to stay well below freezing for at least 4 more days...

Sounds like it's time to ice-skate.

Course, I made the mistake of not digging out my car yesterday. Considering that there was only 4 inches of stuff behind my car, and that most of my car, except for the front, was pretty clear, I figured that I was going to be good. I was not expecting for it all to get as hard as concrete. The good thing is, I could get my car out, but I'm still chipping away at the front.

In my area, when it gets like that they throw down cinders, which makes for instant traction and doesn't kill the environment like salt will. Any chance of them doing that? Might call them and ask.

I really understand your frustration with this, since I live with it regularly every year. I know a few times our HOA didn't get on it right away and it turned into a week-long navigation disaster. At least you don't have our narrow twisty streets with hard turn angles to them and dropoffs. That's a nice silver lining for you. :)

Go get 'em!
