His first season, with Mel, is rated among the worst of the worst. The 2 Ace years are much higher in quality, with the problem of the 3-parters. Most of the 4-parters rock (particularly his Dalek story). Most of the 3-parters should have been 4 parts. Particularly Ghost Light (my second fav story of any Doctor). Tragically, the videotape that had the cut footage that could at least have stretched it to 3 1/2 parts (and helped the episode make more sense) was wiped in 1992, 2 years before they cut the home video, so unlike some stories (Battlefield, which actually could have done without the "missing" footage), it couldn't be stretched.

ugh.

stupid BBC politics and policies. Anybody who complains about how American media is always "now now now" should stop and consider Disney (never throw anything away) vs. the BBC (wipe the tapes and destroy the films after 10 years...nobody's gonna want to see it again...).
