...the great, glorious day when McCain would come out of the last remnant of his so-called moderate closet and reveal his final form as the ultimate Republican.  And it has come at last: "McCain blaims Clinton policies for N. Korea Woes" (Reuters).

So this supposed non-partisan moderate has fallen into every single Republican (not conservative: Republican) talking point of the last half decade:
  • supports gay marriage bans
  • supports ID talking points like "teach the controversy" and "intelligent design"
  • has voted in favor of every single tax cut Bush has asked for
  • voted against internet gambling in every bill proposed
  • voted for the "wall" between us and our Mexican friends
  • backed down and gave the president the ultimate gift of unrestrained and unchallengeable power against american citizens
  • finally, blames Clinton for anything gone wrong in foreign and domestic policy, even though Clinton's been a non-person for 6 years
This alledged moderate simply is nothing of the sort.  When he runs for President in 2008, he runs as Bush's successor embracing the ultimate right-wing values of irresponsible spending and tax cuts, the destruction of public education, institutionalized discrimination, and the removal of civil rights.  He will NOT be the McCain who supposedly stood up to the hard-line right in the 2000 primaries.

Totally agree. I once believed that he had my vote but since the last election I've lost all of the respect I once had. He's so desperate to win that he'll brown nose anyone to get the big guns behind him.

specifically, he's pulling the "Clinton 'gutted' the military" crapola that's been a Limbaugh talking point for ages and yet is something McCain actually said was reasonable in 2000. in addition he blames the lack of enforcement of the agreement of 1994 on Clinton, even though Bush could just as easily have gotten involved in enforcing it, especially after the declaration by N.K. that they were throwing the non-proliferation treaty on its ass.
