OKLAHOMA CITY - While other states are backing away from teaching alternatives to evolution, the Oklahoma House passed a bill Thursday encouraging schools to expose students to alternative views about the origin of life.

The measure, passed on a 77-10 vote, gives teachers the right to teach "the full range of scientific views on the biological or chemical origins of life." The measure stops short of requiring the teaching of "intelligent design" alongside the theory of evolution in science classes.

what other scientific views are there? seriously, i know quite a few scientists who want to know as well...

Its author, Rep. Sally Kern, R-Oklahoma City, said evolution is taught in some classrooms as if it were scientific fact although the theory, developed in the 19th century by Charles Darwin, is neither observable, repeatable or testable and is not solid science.

"scientific fact" -- does not mean fact in the same sense of the word that she thinks it does. "fact" is the evidence itself, not the theory that explains the evidence. the facts are the fossil record, the genetic signature on every life form, the impact of invasive species, the thousands of experiments involving artificial and natural selection...

the *theory* explains that collectiion of evidence in a single form, and any teacher who teaches the theory as if it was "fact" in that sense is wrong to start with. but that's fixed by teaching the teacher *HOW* to teach, not by changing the curriculum to include a pack of lies to be ALSO indoctrinated as "facts".
not observable? wrong, wrong, and wrong...
not repeatable? wrong.
not testable? wrong, and even the original proponent of that claim has rescinded...
