This article describes the situation that
epitomizes why I can't stand those who take church dogma as an absolute in spite of Christ's every word to the contrary. The communion happens
solely on the faith of the
recipient and has
nothing to do with the exact materials consumed. Is a communion any weaker because an alcoholic chooses (and some churches only offer) grape juice and not wine? So why does the grain matter?
Christ is present in the act of Communion as a result of faith, not food. If you believe that Christ is not present because there was no wheat, then
your faith is weak and lacking, not the child whose faith seems absolute.
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces."
