They just don't read, do they?

Article 1, Section 5, Clause 1: Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members, and a Majority of each shall constitute a Quorum to do Business; but a smaller Number may adjourn from day to day, and may be authorized to compel the Attendance of absent Members, in such Manner, and under such Penalties as each House may provide.

so why the hell did they think they could get away with this?

(note: its not that I don't think a contingency plan is unwarrented...its just that damn it, its the Constitution.  if its such a good idea, propose an amendment and go through the process.)

(note 2: I will note that so far, I can't find independent verification of this.  all references on line point back or totally mirror the Boston Herald story.  the house rules available on line at house.gov are dated january 4th, before this story was published.)

What constitution? Our current lawmakers are bending it to suit their whims, forget what the founding father's wanted.

That seems to me to be incentive for our elected officials to off one another in order to attempt a coups and blame it on "terrorism". The Manchurian Candidate is looking less and less like science fiction every day. Loverly.
