NJ Governor Resigns.

he shouldn't have resigned -- he should have just yelled out "FOOLED YOU! WE'RE NORMAL PEOPLE LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE! AND YOU COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE!"

he did state he was resigning more because he had an affair than because he was gay... He specifically said that to the gov't it didn't make much difference that he was gay.

yeah, but the headlines are hardly saying that. a louder "voice" would have made it past the soundbyte mentality.

no, i agree that headlines emphasising gay over affair are wrong, misleading, and do nothing but enforce the prevailing attitude among the conservatives that gay is "different" and therefore not right, but there are ways to fight them and he missed his chance.

i think he was resigning a: because he cheated on his wife and b: he was about to be blackmailed about it by his cheat-on partner. with the pervading attitudes about scandals, knew he couldn't govern effectively any longer without that being the ONLY topic people would want to discuss.

i thought it admirable that he stepped up and cut the blackmailer off at the knees. i don't think he had to resign, but i understand the reasons why. not because he is gay, but because no one else will let it drop.

I think he *shouldn't* resign...

If Clinton can stay president after getting blown by Monica in the White House and cheating on his wife....then McGreevey can be gay and cheat on his and stay governor.

He *should not have* resigned. Agreed.
However, if he indeed made the decision to resign to help his family, which he is responsible for, then I applaud him.
From experience, if something *huge* is happening in my household, I find it extremely difficult to concentrate on the things I am responsible for at work. Therefore, doing my clients and my employer a great injustice.

Is this bad timing for Democrats? Absolutely.
Not that I think it is bad timing to have a *gay* NJ governor.
That again, morally, which seems to be the Republican fight, we have had yet another Democratic figure, be unfaithful while in office. And their thought is not only unfaithful, but also gay.

While I think that the moralality is a *non* issue, ONLY because it has been based solely on Christian religion, is it not in the minds of 99% of the population of this devine country. I would like a morally decent leader. However, I think it should be moral based on good karma, good judgement, and good thought processes. Not based on what Christianity and The Moral Right says.
