So did anybody else notice...
May. 21st, 2004 10:54 am...that milk prices were going up faster than the gas prices, and not just because the gas price is affecting shipping costs?
I didn't...but I don't buy enough milk to notice...however, it means we're definitely buying smaller containers 'cause we're always throwing out spoiled milk around our fridge.

Date: 2004-05-21 08:32 am (UTC)Yeah, I know you can freeze milk, I've done it before. But I'll be damned if we ever remember to do so before the time comes... And he hates the freezer-burn that can happen within short order.
A few years ago, we froze milk into ice-cube trays (two cubes equals a quarter cup), and then dumped the milk cubes into a bag and had them in the freezer... When I went in there to get some for some pasta, I had to use a knife to pick apart the cubes, they'd stuck together... And in the process I sliced my hand wide open. *sigh*
(yeah, I know, right tool for the right job)...
He hates frozen milk.
We even have a vacuum sealer, but occasionally we forget that the milk is back there for THAT too... The other day we performed a fridge clean-up, and discovered that the mason jar of vacuum sealed milk in the back of the fridge seemed to have developed the consistency of tofu in water. While I'm wondering what kind of cheese we made, I'm not willing to find out. ;)
We REALLY don't use milk. Cheese, yes, milk, no
