To gun enthusiasts...
Dec. 14th, 2012 08:02 pm...who think that any sort of compromise on limiting the unfettered access to guns would inherently "lead this country to rot" and "end all our freedoms"
I'm sorry, truly sorry, that you think having easy access to a gun is the only thing that makes this country worth living in.
If it was my daughter and you dared say that to me, you would be buried with her. End of discussion.

Date: 2012-12-15 09:08 am (UTC)Then again I lived where a shotgun was a necessity because rabid animals were not taken care of by animal control. Neither were animals hit by cars who were destined to die and we chose not to let linger.
I feel no need for guns unless you're protecting your family from harm or providing food for the table (both of which I've done). I will say in my day and age (graduated 1982) we took guns to school - they were kept in the trucks along with our knives and other sundry things like smokes and snuff and beer.
Things Have Changed. As such, society needs to change with it. FWIW, child abuse was also ignored in that time ... we have evolved. Why should we be shouting against the move toward self-actualization? Maslow would be mortified.
