I'm actually surprised at how long it took for some "Christian" to finally blame the oil spill on Obama as God's punishment over homosexual rights. The Black Christian News website finally broke the ice on that one today.  Of course, if it is God's Will for the spill to happen then what is the point of Sarah Palin's gigantic nation-wide prayer day?  You'd think they'd coordinate their efforts at Holy interpretation better...

Sure--all the roughnecks; fishermen and women; waiters, busboys, cooks, maids, clerks, etc in the tourist business; etc. deserve the punishment because God is mad at Obama. Or maybe it's the gay pelicans? Or is everybody on the Gulf gay?

well, actually it is the variety of religious reactions that are really getting to me.

one set blame it on the administration for their support of gay(-marriage) rights

one set just started to blame it on the fact that we recently stated that we're not going to support Israel's actions in the UN automatically, thus this is part of the apocalypse. (see, if we don't support Israel, they'll get attacked, thus fulfilling some aspect of Revelation, therefore this oil spill is one part of the apocalypse already starting...yeah, makes sense to me, too...)

one set is saying it is an act of nature and if we just pray harder as a nation and embrace Jesus as our savior blah blah blah (including prayer in school, stop abortions, and also embrace the free market), God will intervene to make it stop.

And that is why I'm sooo against most organized religions, especially the ones who go blatantly against their own teachings. Show me the proof that the oil spill is the direct result of gay marriage and I'll gladly acknowledge that your particular brand of crazy... err... religion is right and that you've got a hotline straight to the Big Man Himself.

Otherwise? Shut the fuck up and things you don't know a hill of beans about.

There are plenty of signs that "God" may be pissed off at something, but seriously -- unleashing hundreds of thousands of gallons of raw petroleum products at the asses of seamen and you're going to claim this was because God hates gays? ::shaking my head::
