In this TV-to-film update, Will Ferrell plays Dr. Rick Marshall, Quantum Paleologist. Well, kinda. He’s really just Will Ferrell, Guy Who Wears Speedos No Matter What Movie He’s In.

About the only film he's "not Will Ferrell" in is The Producers, and that's 'cause he didn't originate the role, so Brooks and Co could actually remind him that he's to be an actor, not a character in his own image.

chuckle. Jim Carrey is the same way -- if he's given too much leeway, he'll just be himself, which is simply not funny. Truman Show worked because he was kept on a tight rein. Maybe with a curb bit.

Actually, he plays "not Will Ferrell" in "Stranger than Fiction" - which is really a delightful movie.

I have never found Will Ferrell even the remotest bit funny. Not ever. I'm sure this latest travesty will be much of the same.

I agree on most of his movies, but he actually acted in Stranger Than Fiction, too. So it's clear to me that he can act, and well, but maybe his audience likes him more as "Will Ferrell" than as the character. There is a certain segment that prefers that sort of thing, I suppose.

yeah - RW as "RW" is one thing. RW when he's allowed (or ordered) to *act* is phenomenal. Popeye, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets, What Dreams May Come...gimme him in those movies any day...
