Today's AT40

is terribly confused. it's supposed to be December 1983, but it's playing stuff in the top 10 of that week utterly out of order - it is literally playing the top 10 BACKWARDS - we keep hearing the intro to songs AFTER the are already played. SOMEONE screwed up, and worse than they had a year ago when 2 AT40s a week apart were intermixed together.
Specifically the way it is tracked, Casey talking over the intro to a song is a separate "track" from the rest of the song (in order to give each their appropriate ID3 info), so we keep hearing the ends of songs and the start of the next one, then cut into the start of the song we just heard the tale end of, and then that song's intro.
So once again, I'm not liveblogging 'cause this is just pointless. If it continues I may give up and switch back to First Wave.
Last week
And with that, they've just given up and gone on a regular random-shuffle playlist (it would have to be to follow up Guns n Roses with Devo's Whip It). Maybe they'll have it all fixed by the 8pm repeat tonite, though I probably won't care.
Now to make matters worse, they opted instead to restart LAST WEEK's 1980 (making for 3 weeks of 1980 in a row). I give up...back to classical for the day.
grr...

One interesting bit of trivia: Olivia Newton John started a store of Australian goods, Koala Blue, in LA because she was homesick, and that store is still in business...Ah, MAYBE they fixed it because the beginning and #40 just started.
