Once one of the finest temples in Rome, it was converted to a Christian church at some point and remains that way now.

Yes that still is a hole in the roof and yes the floor does get exceedingly wet when it rains. there are drainage holes in the sides of the building.

Y'know, i never had any real desire to travel abroad until i took Theatre History (a two semester 12 unit class, i kid you not!). I learned SO MUCH about Europe in that class! REALLY made me hungry to see such things!

Rich has some fabulous photos of the Pantheon... particularly of minor architectural details hi lit by the osculum. Did you know that the hugespiked, wooden doors are original?! They've been there for thousands of years!
