acroyearYes, its *finally* running. took a bit of tweaking, with the tech-support guys on the line, once the cable was hooked up properly. seems it was disconnected to the wires leading to the study by the satelite people, who didn't plug an alternate in because they routed the wire to the craft room (then the original owners daughter's playroom) instead. so once he saw that, we were live...
...then there was a hassle because the cable-modem had already configured itself to be talking to the router instead, and that's one of those problems that supposedly only techsupport can fix...or leave the modem off for 3 hours before switching machines.
still, damned thing works now, so i'm not complaining.
