Date: 2008-04-04 02:45 pm (UTC)a few b'sides, lots of stuff bigger in the uk than here (Marillion, Mike Oldfield), for some fav groups there more album tracks than just the "hits" (Asia, Genesis, a-Ha), so its really more "the 80s to me" than just "the 80s on radio".
for a *few* groups, stuff from the early 90s that was in the same feel, like Genesis (stuff from We Can't Dance), Dire Straights (Heavy Fuel, Calling Elvis), Lindsey Buckingham (his work on the solo album had been interrupted by the reunion to make Tango in the Night). Oddly, Peter Gabriel's "Us" is not on that list 'cause for me it really is part of how i viewed my life in the 90s. it's a really odd intangible.
i guess it's the fact that i still considered my college years "the 80s" even though it went into 1993. i discovered Us in 1994 and as such, it's not part of my college scene, therefore not part of the 80s.
