how the hell
Feb. 25th, 2008 08:59 pmcan any "fashion" show actually be able to rate how the men dressed when they're all in tuxes. what, half an inch on a bow tie is a difference between "looks great" and "looks like his mother dressed him"?
good grief.
now, its different if it's Sean Connery, of course.

Daniel Day Lewis looked like a dork (brown shoes to match brown trim on a black tux? FAIL.)

Date: 2008-02-26 02:08 am (UTC)I hated wearing a suit unless it was MY suit (trans: the jacket wasn't one solid color, but no, it wasn't obnoxious 70s plaid either) back when i was only 120lbs.
By contrast, the program i flipped past that led to this post gave great admiration to Forrest Whitaker.

Date: 2008-02-26 03:01 am (UTC)There's a lot that men can do with cut, color of the tie, type of tie, shirt, cumberbunt, etc. that can make or break a simple black tux. Some guys can pull off an all black look, many can't but try anyway.
Menswear is a lot less forgiving than women's wear, even though it looks simplier. But most of the commentators have no clue about what they are looking at. Thank GAWD Joan and Melissa Rivers weren't there or at least weren't on the channel I was watching. Ugh!! Talk about having absolutely no clue.

The sharp dressed man also knows how to emphasize the good and disguise the bad. Or, at least their tailors do, and they know to trust their tailors.
