1. When did you start watching and why?

My parents discovered it on the local PBS station in fall of 1981, since it shared a timeslot with H2G2 (Who ran Mon-Thurs, H2G2 ran Friday) and we'd already addicted ourselves to H2G2 the previous year, along with Brian Daley's Star Wars radio shows.

2. What was your first serial/episode?

They were watching episodes of Armageddon Factor; the first I saw from beginning to end was Destiny of the Daleks.

3. Which serials/episodes have you seen?

Everything that still exists at least once, except some of the 1-part survivors (like those two or three parts of Dalek Masterplan).

3a. Favourite?

The complex ones with the most theoretical (even if made up) science - Warrior's Gate, Logopolis, Ghost Light.  Empty Child/Doctor Dances remains my fav of the new series.

4. Are your friends/family interested in the show?

My parents; my wife.

5. Which Doctor is your favourite?

7 on his good stories (he can't save a bad story the way others can), then 4, 5, 9.  I quite like 8 on audio.

6. Which Doctor is your least favourite?

1 during the later season; he was getting a bit tired and it showed.

7. Which TV companion is your favourite?

Romana 2, Romana 1, Nyssa, Ace

8. Which TV companion is your least favourite?

Polly.  Single-handedly gave in to 2's blatant moves to set the women's movement back a hundred years.  :)

9. Do you listen to the Big Finish audios?

Yes, when I can carve the time.

9a. If so, which is your favourite?

Spectre of Lanyon Moor - showed that Six could fit in perfectly well into the gothic horror / "mythology was caused by aliens" story genre that traditionally had been 3 and 4's bag (Daemons, Fendhal).  Spare parts was also interesting, though 5 should have considered his "did I really change anything in history" impacts more closely as 4 did in Genesis.

9b. Also: which Big Finish companion is your favourite?

Evelyn Smythe, followed by any Peri pairing with Six.  Peri with 5 is starting to drift away from the character at the time - she's gotten too much experience leading Erimem around to be the same naive girl at the time of the regeneration.  Peri with 6, especially ...Ish, is *exactly* where that character relationship should have been all the time.

10. Have you listened to any non-Big Finish audios?

No.

10a. If so, which is your favourite?

11. Have you read any of the novels or short stories?

Yes, some.

11a. Have you written any of the novels or short stories?

No.

11b. Which is your favourite?

Of what I've read?  Corpse Marker (sequel to Robots of Death by the original author) and Who Killed Kennedy

12. Have you read any of the comics?

The ones from the old DWMs and DW Weeklies.

12a. You guessed it--which is your favourite?

none - i don't analyze them as much as the others.

13. Do you watch any of the spinoffs (e.g. Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures)?

I have SJA but haven't seen it yet.  Seen most Torchwood as my wife's addicted.

13a. Which is your favourite?

Most fans hate it (too gross/violent) but I loved Countrycide from Torchwood simply because it defies expectation - there's no reason an alien HAS to be involved in odd goings-on and the wake-up call was brilliant.

14. Is there any particular episode/book/audio/comic you desperately want to watch/listen to/read?

I want to finish following Charlie's departure (and understand what the hell she's doing in a Six story).

15. Do you write fanfic for Doctor Who?

no.

15a. If so, post a snippet of a work-in-progress (or several)!

16. Do you create Doctor Who icons?

A few

16a. Let's see a sample!

17. Recommend a fanfic/icon/fanvid/fancomic/fancreation!

no fanfic interest

18. Have you been to any Doctor Who conventions?

no

19. Have you ever dressed up as a Doctor Who character?

an (old school) cyberman in 1983, and JNT (hawiian shirt, panama jack hat) for the PBS pledge drive in 1987

20. Do you own any Doctor Who merchandise?

Yes.  the collectors cards, a tardis coin bank (actually, my mom still has that and my brother's the one who filled it while I was in college), a few other odds and ends.

21. Are you a fan of Russell T. Davies?

I respect him and am grateful he got the series going again.

21a. Steven Moffat?

Brilliant

21b. Paul Cornell?

Family of Blood on tv was interesting; my wife loves Fathers Day but I get a little tired of it.

22. What say you to Season 6b?

'eh

23. The UNIT dating controversy?

big deal - i prefer just putting things when the stories were first broadcast, as Who Killed Kennedy did.

24. The Blinovitch Limitation Effect?

"The past is truly like a foreign country - they do things exactly the same there." - Douglas Adams

25. Multi-Doctor episodes?

Great for a "fix" when you can't make up your mind which you're in the mood for.

26. What's your favourite Doctor Who technobabble?

"and, well...ZAP!" - Castrovalva

27. Have you watched other TV shows exclusively because of the presence of Doctor Who actors?

Davison got my mom hooked on Campion and All Creatures, but nothing's done that for me except maybe Tom Baker's Holmes produced in 1982.

28. Have you met any of the actors?

no.

28a. Traveled to any filming locations?

no, though I was in Llangollen (after the museum moved out :( ).

29. What do you think of "The Curse of Fatal Death"?

great stuff.  i'll explain later.

30. Do you have any fannish opinions that you think are fairly unpopular?

Yeah - i hate the "all fanfic must have doctor/companion sex in it" attitude

31. What's your favourite pairing?

if by pairing you mean what i hate in #30, then obviously none.

if by pairing you just mean any doctor/companion relationship that just works on screen brilliantly?  4/Romana 2, though the sex thing (between the actors) certainly had something to do with it, which i suppose contradicts myself in a way. :)

followed by 7/Ace - "good.  go blow up that vehicle" and "quick, hand me some of that nitro-nine you're not carrying" are just brilliant.

32. What pairing(s) won't you touch with a really long pole?

if by pairing you mean what i hate in #30, then obviously all
