Doctor Who left the Foreman junkyard near the Cole Hill School 40 years ago today, causing the mysterious disappearance of a young student named Susan, and two of her teachers. Ten years later, the whole of UNIT HQ disappeared for a few hours, supposedly beamed deep into a black hole. Ten years after that four Doctors gathered together to defeat the plans of immortality of the Lord President of the Time Lords.

And Ten years after that, Dr. Who was off the air.

Still, the old show is now 40, with much of recent successes in other media leading to a renewal of interest in bringing it back to TV. Over at the BBC, the official site has some flash-animated stories, including a new one featuring a new Doctor, played by Richard Grant (who played the Doc in the Curse of the Fatal Death parody). Also a marathon is being broadcast on one of the BBC's stations.

Meanwhile, 4 of the 5 living Doctors, and a sizeable portion of their companions, are all featured in the Big Finish audio story I described in an earlier entry.

For myself, I'm watching The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors, and a few other classics like Rememberance of the Daleks...
