My knee problem got its diagnosis: nothing serious, but it'll take time. It's just a pulled ligament, so (if I take care of it), nothing permanent and nothing torn, and as I've said to many, it doesn't hurt (if I tore it, it would be hurting). It just "clicks", especially walking down stairs or (yes,
thatliardiego you can laugh now) most Morris dance steps. Cartilage is fine, as is the bone itself - xrays showed no damage at all. The ligament is one of the ones holding the kneecap in the right place: if i keep abusing it, it *will* get worse to the point of hurting.
So a knee brace from CVS, keep a cane or walking stick handy (rat puck - not hard to do @ faire), and IB if it does hurt on occasion and just take it easy with occasional ice packs is all I can do...and heat pads and stretches *before* I go, if I do feel like giving a dance a try. I need to do a couple of experiments to see if there's any tradition that won't irritate it - I'm pretty sure we can still do bacca pipes if
faireraven doesn't go too fast for the finale...
*sigh*
3 weeks of pretty much just head-banging, minimum. I'll probably need a new tambourine after this. Maybe it's time to start looking at adding some songs into the setlist...
Note: I *can* still do Playfords (they're just walking steps) so Danse Macabre practices WILL still go on starting next week.
I hate getting old...

Date: 2007-09-22 04:27 am (UTC)Old indeed... hey, *I've* been getting *better* joints since turning 40... though they've got some way to go (and the bits of arthritis are almost enough to overcome the joy of not having the swollen major walking pain at times).
What *is* it with MDRF this year that's taking out all the knees? I think my count was up to 5 on Sunday, and that didn't include you (for all that you were a bit stiff when I saw you)
