Reuters writing gets worse...
Mar. 7th, 2007 06:47 pmGranted, its the "entertainment news" and nobody gets their facts right, but still...
After 15 years, Genesis is back -- without Gabriel - Yahoo! News:
All of the Phil and Genesis facts are easily researchable on the public record. Hey you Reuters entertainment weenies: at least check your facts against wikipedia before you embarrass yourselves.
BTW, I can't go to the DC show as its at the Verizon Center on Sunday, Sep 23rd, which is, of course, a Faire night. Not that I'm of the type to spend $50 minimum on a concert and deal with nosebleed seats with 20,000 people anymore.
Yeah, I've gotten old.
After 15 years, Genesis is back -- without Gabriel - Yahoo! News:
The rock band Genesis will tour for the first time in 15 years this summer, but without former front manLets see now...
Peter Gabriel, the group said on Wednesday.

Collins remained with Genesis until 1991, when he began performing as a solo artist. In 1997, the remaining members of Genesis released "Calling All Stations," a commercial disappointment.
- No mention of long time guitarist Steve Hackett at all
- Too much of a mention of Gabriel, really, given that he was never involved in the major hits of Genesis and few people except die-hard prog fans have heard any Genesis from before the split. Typical Gabriel fans are even less aware of his Genesis time than Genesis/Phil fans. Granted, the fact that this is the 40th anniversary of the band implies a deeper reunion should have been done. They also don't say why Gabriel decided not to (facts on the public record from 3 months ago when the idea was first proposed), but that's typical in that the writer only rehashed what was said at the press conference and did little backstory research as you can see with the following...
- Phil began performing as a solo artist in 1980, with Face Value recorded in between Duke and Abacab
- Phil was touring solo by 1988 (after the Invisible Touch tour), and had a hugely successful 1990 tour
- Genesis released We Can't Dance in 1991
- Genesis continued to tour for a year and released a live album in 1993
- Phil didn't formally retire from Genesis until 1996 (though again the band were in their normal between-album hiatus after the tour and live album), deciding that his solo career and the Disney offer to do Tarzan was more in line with the direction he felt he needed to take
All of the Phil and Genesis facts are easily researchable on the public record. Hey you Reuters entertainment weenies: at least check your facts against wikipedia before you embarrass yourselves.
