Military: No Gitmo guard abuse evident - Yahoo! News:

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - An Army officer who investigated possible abuse at Guantanamo Bay after some guards purportedly bragged about beating detainees found no evidence they mistreated the prisoners — although he did not interview any of the alleged victims, the U.S. military said Wednesday.

This is what happens to career officers when you tell them they have no career if they suggest the President is wrong.

Saying "you're always right" is not a sign of discipline.  Its a sign of cowardess and weakness and its what gets people *killed* for no reasonable reason.

Clinton didn't gut our military.  The military Clinton left to Bush was perfectly willing to call bullshit when they saw it, while still being perfectly able to achieve strategic victories when it mattered.

The military Bush is leaving to his successor won't have an independent thought to save their ass.

It's also a sign of someone dealing with a leader who rules by fear and intimidation.

People who rule by fear and intimidation are, of course, despots and not real leaders. Their subordinates then resort to moral cowardice because they are afraid of what the despot will do. :-(

Just ask me about working for someone like that ... and how being one of the few who stood up and called bullshit resulted in me being fired after 7 years of exemplary work for the company. I became the perfect example, as far as that boss was concerned: "Sharon spoke up, and you see what I did to her ... draw your own conclusions" has been very much implied and even hinted at ever since (I still talk to people who work there).

I do not work and play well with despots.
