The editors at yahoo/reuters have decided that celebrity bunk is worthy of being called a "Top Story".

Britney Spears says "I'm an emotional wreck"

is somehow breaking news worthy of my short and expensive attention as a "Top Story" among all of the national and international news that actually, you know, affects people.

sheesh...

Ordinarily, i would not even know who "Britney Spears" is, much less anything about her, but....

Between tabloids in the grocery line and Tom having the tv on now and then in the past year or so, i'm catching on.

He had it on last night, and knowing that Britney has become a mom and been making lots of "mistakes", i turned around (i gave it that much effort) to see what *now*. She was being interviewed by someone or other, and i only saw enuf to catch her say, "Everywhere i go, people are judging me!"

Um..... yeah. That somehow makes you *unusual*?? *LOL* Only in-so-far as you *are* a celebrity (by intent, i suspect) and that celebrities are more known and therefore noticable. We ALL get judged, schweethawt.

But yeah, international news? Yeesh.

As much as I hate that celebrity gossip counts as "news" these days, it still doesn't bug me as much as the category of "accidents that happen to other people." Call me heartless, but I cannot fathom why other people's misfortunes are newsworthy.

One of the things I miss most about living in Scotland is BBC news.

My brother works for CNN. He wants out of news. He too is irked by the way most news reports are these days:

"A tragic death as a baby is dropped from a fourth story window....BUT FIRST....how to find a sexy swimsuit for your body type!"
