in a fit of juggling (note: I never juggle, either intentionally or successfully), my mp3 player slipped off whatever the hell it was balanced against, fell with enough force to yank itself free of the headphones (the only part of it I kept a hold of), and boom.

and now everything works except the audio. it won't make any noise except "clicks" when i change the volume. the music signal itself isn't getting to the headphone jack.

6 months, and I have yet another dead piece of portable electronics.

There's reasons I really don't want a PDA. That I would drop it ONCE in such a way as to cause permanent, irreperable, inoperable damage (as I always seem to do) is VERY high on the list.

*sigh*

Ah. This is why you don't juggle. The idea of juggling is to actually keep them in the air and then catch them.

Your skill is actually called "dropping."

It is just as impressive, however Carolyn will not pay you to do it at faire.

No. She's already got O as the village foole. No need for me to be a second one...well, not as such...

As far as PDAs go... I have a Handspring Visor Platinum, which they stopped making a year or so ago (bummer). I have dropped it on concrete. I have dropped it on linoleum. I have dropped it in the rest room. I have sat on it. I've kept it dry, fortunately. The scrappy little thing shows no damage from any of it's aerial antics, and the system works just fine. Mine's getting old and wanting to be replaced (I'm a power user :D), but everything works correctly.

Actually, there has been one drawback to 2 years of abuse. The digitizer is a little neurotic, so will typically punt me into the onscreen keyboard when I try to write stuff.

Like i was saying, I ONLY drop something in such a way as to break it. I've only dropped my "dan the master joiner" mug *once*. And broke it. Fortunately, Dan guarentees his work and did the fix, but its still typical of me that when i could break something where others might not, i do so.
