A suggestion to follow after my rant about how pre-packaged unsweetened ice tea was impossible to find has panned out.  The "Kettle-brewed Unsweetened Ice Tea" from Trader Joe's is excellent, and will certainly satiate me for months and years to come in my war against High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Yeah, it took a while, but I finally got to the one here in Reston and found it.  Many thanks!

Ooh, thanks for the tip!! I'll have to see if the TJ's near me have it as well. I also hate sweetened bottled iced tea. I also can't stand instant iced tea. Ick!!

The cold brew tea is also really good, esp. for lazy types like me who can't wait 10 minutes to boil water.

actually, the boiling isn't the problem (my main place is at work, where the coffee makers are hot enough) -- its the lack of ice around here.

Ah. Cold tap water usually works fine. And since it's supposed to be Winter, you could always leave the bottle outside - IF it's actually cold out. :)

Warning: When he says bottled, it's a GALLON bottle. So he's keeping it in the fridge over there at work and just pouring as needed into another iced tea bottle he keeps on the desk that's more person-sized. :)

I drink tea by the gallon. Does is come in decaf? Trying to cut back on the caffine. *twitch*

Oh and for the cold brew tea, putting it in the frige works too.

i keep the bottle in the fridge, then add cold water from our (filtered) water coolers to dilute (to account for the lack of actual ice; its not "concentrate" but it is strong in assuming you are going to add ice to it).

i didn't see any 0-caffine bottles/jugs there when i looked.

what i CAN say is that when i gave up HFCS (and a 2 coke-a-day habit, 300 calories of pure tummy blubber daily) i kept my caffine levels constant through tea and coffee...and i *still* had the shakes in my hands for about 3 weeks. it wasn't the caffine that was making me antsy, it was the fructose.

Completely random

OH, could you put my dance school's concert info up on Celtic District? It's listed here: http://www.thistledancers.com/

We got the McDades this year. *happySnoopydance*

getting that one on the page has been on my damned todo list for years now, and keeps getting put off because i keep wanting to redo parts of the site and never get around to the bigger thing. hell, i haven't done a concert update since MDRF ended for the year, and i'm rather embarrased about that, all because i'm looking at all the formats and submissions more at a technical eye of how to make it easier to manage rather than actually getting the damned things updaated.

and now i don't want to do anything new just yet becuase its likely the whole site is changing hosts and may end up getting significantly rewritten anyways in the next few weeks (not that i really have the time, but there you go).

Too much trouble. I prefer to just refrigerator brew overnight. Red Rose works *really* well for that, regular Lipton's so-so.

Toss the bags and cold water into a jar (or pitcher), shove it in the fridge and *usually* overnight (24 hours at the most) you've got ice-tea that doesn't have that icky bitter taste. Red Rose is almost sweet, in fact.

Completely unconnected comment
