"We are going to go to new places and that doesn't mean the F-word. If that's what satellite means, then that's ridiculous. Then it's just pornography."

This came as a bit of a surprise to the rougher part of his audience.  Having his hands free of the crapola that is the FCC doesn't mean its in his, Sirius's, or his audience's best interests to simply swear without provocation or relevance.  Freedom alows for honesty: its making it clear to the FCC and the broadcast world that its not the words, its the subject matter and the opinions and the freedom to discuss things like porn, off-color jokes, even profanity itself (remember a station got sued simply for broadcasting Carlin's 7 Words segments as part of what should have been a fair-use and perfectly legitimate serious discussion on profanity and its relevance).

Simply throwing words out there without meaning or feeling may be "shock", but its not "shock-value" -- Stern still values his ability to shock, and that value is diminished when the words are used unnecessarilly.

I can agree with that attitude.
