naturally enough.  those of you who read AFR, please do not echo the words of any festival employee written into a LiveJournal post or comment onto that forum.  We do not speak for faire management, and on a national forum such as that, our words and our opinions can be misconstrued to giving a point of view that is not our own.  On such a forum, our views become "official" regardless of our disclaimers otherwise.

Faire management and the performer who did the stunt both read AFR.  If they choose to give an official response, that is their perogative.  Please allow them that right, or the right of silence.

if you don't know "the story" or what "AFR" is, good.  better left unsaid.

as i said, better left unsaid. i'm not going to say anymore on a public forum until the festival has decided to give an official statement.

just another of the many reasons why I don't read AFR any more and glad that I don't. Frankly I think they should change it to AFRR(Alt.Faires.Rennaisance.Rumormill) instead.

actually, on this they've been reasonably quiet

when compared to the prejudicial nightmare series of posts on the fact that King Richard's Faire has nothing kosher to eat, won't allow you to bring in outside food, and won't let you leave to eat and return later. some jackass is trying to call them anti-semetic on it. compared to that, this has been a piece of cake.

i did get in there early with the "the performer and the faire management read afr -- if they feel like talking about it, they will. otherwise, please consider the matter closed" post and so far it seems to be working.

its not nearly as bad a rumor mill as it used to be...because most of the 90s core readership now use livejournal as their rumor mill. :D

This event was the lead story on the 8:00am edition of 98Rock's news this morning.

I only know what I've read, which may or may not be factual. But I still hate to see the Faire getting bad press for any reason.

NOW ...

we can ONLY hope that those who usually spout at the mouth with disregard to whom it may affect and how will take pride in having a little decency, integrity and respect FOR ONCE, AND KEEP THEIR FRELLING MOUTH SHUT!

Another reason I want nothing to do with the ARF board. I read it for a while but the right side of my head started to get flat from banging it against my desk from reading the MAJORITY of posts from the morons who have ZERO desire to have any integrity and spew for the sake of attention.

actually, as i said, AFR's been relatively quiet since i got to be "post #3" on the subject with the "everybody's fine, we don't need to talk about it" post (not in those words, of course). as i did in other LJ posts, i deflected the attention by bringing to their attention the bad editing job of the AP version of the story.

"the story" has made it to my office lunchroom, too. guess it's making the rounds on the newswires...

as others have said, kudos on the damage control on AFR...

as has been discussed in far too many places, the AP got a hold of a story from a local annapolis paper, butchered it in several places in ways that made the faire look bad, got the location of the faire completely wrong, and put that out on a national feed. posts from as far away as california are coming in various blogs concerning it.

Not to do with that story directly... though there *was* a minor tie-in originally... (I'll try to remember to tell you when I see you this weekend... just like I keep trying to remember to give faireraven the thing in my basket that I've been trying to remember *all* season...)

That stupid spam-cop thing is *way* too vigilant. Didn't like my address attempting to send something to your e-mail... go figure.
