XM Radio's coverage of Live 8, currently divied up among 7 stations (6 covering the main stages and channel 40 bouncing between them to try to give "continual coverage" when acts are changing on stage).
All good and well. Except the woman doing the London commentary is a pop-culture idiot.
Pink Floyd is having their first reunion of the core lineup since the Wall shows of 1981, and she's all giddy hyping up fucking Mariah Carey as being the highlight of the show.
I just don't get it...
trust me, NOBODY in the 205,000 people at the London show is going to that show to see Mariah Carey. Paul McCartney, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Coldplay, Sting, U2, Annie Lennox, REM, Robbie Williams, *maybe* Madonna. But Mariah Carey's just filler in comparison to that lineup.
And not good filler, either.
On a side note, Duran Duran's bit in Rome sounded great. I was happy that in spite of the line-up change (back to the original) they still do some material from the later years: They played Ordinary World and it was very cool.
