I'm not the only one that thinks so...

Pooflingers Anonymous: Lemon Juice:
A couple days ago I picked up the only magazine in the rack at work that I hadn't yet read, and it got me thinking. The magazine was one of those hunting/fishing ones that seem to be so common around here, and contained a short blurb about states with "no hunting on Sunday" laws. I have to admit I wasn't a bit shocked when the only reasons given to excuse the existence of said laws were religious reasons.

This began a cascade of thoughts about other Sunday laws in place throughout the country (such as local liquor stores not being allowed to operate... though the bars are allowed to be open in some counties here). I can't help but feel that it's time to take all Sunday laws to court and have them subjected to the lemon test. If there exist no solid reasons outside of religious ones as to why said laws exist in the first place, it's high time to have them removed from the books. I don't really care if the local religious population doesn't like people buying a bottle of rum on Sunday... it's not their right to legislate their Biblical edicts into my life, and no amount of argument from popularity can change that.

As a final thought, since I suppose it won't be hard for most readers to guess at the general demographic of states with "no Sunday hunting" laws, I wonder what would happen if we banded together to enact a "no NASCAR on Sunday" law in those same states...

(yeah, it's been a while)

is June 4, 1988.  By this time, I was days away from graduating high school (having *just* finished my finals) and generally hating most pop music so I'm not going to comment much...though Robert Plant's Tall Cool One comes in @ number 40.  :)

It's also a repeat of something I've heard before, 'cause they're about to recap a set of disco remakes (inspired by the Pet Shop Boys' cover of Always on my Mind) that includes a disco Stairway to Heaven.
