If, among my patron friends here, I didn't get to see you at all or give you more than about 10 seconds of my time this weekend, please understand I love you and will miss you all these next few to several months. And as much as I might have been bitchin' about the amount of "work" I had to do just to make sure that certain events went off without a hitch, said events went off without a hitch, making it all SO worth it.
I'll post my more detailed memories later (still need more sleep), but this year having had my "usual" roles, both in the morning and in the evening, changed by circumstance, I got to see a much different picture of the festival, even after all these years. Like standing on a desk in "Dead Poet's Society", perspectives changed greatly, and I feel improved even that part of my day that was "same as always", the normal Cat & Fiddle gigs on the boardwalk.
Next year, things change again. Yet I believe all shall be well.
Cat & Fiddle have what I would call a "good show" as far as street music goes. Quite literally, "the kids love it" and that has been reward enough more often than I ever thought possible.
But we have another strength that came out this year more than years' past: collaboration. We knew we had it, but finally opportunities permitted others to see and share with us the chances to make either our show, or other shows, better. This, I think, is where our future lies, and now we need to contemplate how to build this strength for the betterment of the faire, and to help fill the next hole that opens up.
