My officemate's wife just took 3 1/2 hours to get from Ballston to downtown (a mere 6 stops down the Orange line).  There are trains loaded with hundreds to thousands of passengers that are suddenly stopping and saying "that's it, this train is closing down", leading all the passengers (who waited 20 minutes to an hour just to get on that train which was stuffed even by the time it got from Vienna to Ballston) to get off and wait 20 min for the next already fully loaded train.  And of course, if you head for the surface, unlike western Fairfax, its already started a total downpour out there.  Then there's still the issue of several stations just plain being out as it is

Trust me, the news online isn't coming close to describing the hell that downtown DC is right now, and Metro's alert status page isn't coming close either.

Adelphia finally got through the flooding and rain and fixed their damn network.

1 reason I'll stick to satellite for the tv - if the storm takes it out briefly, it'll be back when the storm is over (unless winds killed my dish...).
